Automotive Centre
At Harvest, the Automotive Integrated Learning Program is designed for the specific purpose of meeting the needs and interests of students within the area. This subject focuses on a comprehensive study of and exposure to Automotive systems, components and diagnostic concepts with a highly practical hands-on component, where students can further their Automotive knowledge and develop their capabilities in this field.

Automotive Centre
The Harvest Christian College Automotive workshop provides fundamental knowledge and experience in owning and maintaining a motor vehicle.
Offered through Years 7-12, we teach our students how to distinguish between the different systems found in standard motor vehicles. Students will learn key features of the electrical, lubrication, fuel, ignition, suspension, exhaust, braking, and drivetrain systems while experiencing practical activities to reinforce the differing functions of these systems. They will learn how to confidently use automotive tools and equipment, start, disassemble, reassemble and maintain both two and four-stroke engines.
We also teach how to choose a repair facility, buy a car, handle roadside emergencies, diagnose common problems, and communicate effectively with mechanics. Emphasis is placed on using mechanical language and the ability to refer to automotive literature as students detect faults and determine causes in their cars.
Automotive students work both independently and collaboratively. Problem-solving activities acknowledge the complexities of motor vehicle ownership, and students identify the steps involved in planning the production of automotive designed solutions. They develop detailed project management plans incorporating sequenced time, cost, and action plans to safely manage a range of automotive processes and production skills. They follow and apply management plans, changing direction when necessary, to successfully complete automotive tasks. Students identify and establish safety procedures that minimise risk and manage projects with safety and efficiency in mind, maintaining safety standards and management procedures to ensure success. They learn to transfer theoretical knowledge to practical activities across a range of automotive projects.
